This week across the District of Columbia Mother Nature is breaking the law.
Through no fault of her own, an “illegal” species of mushroom is fruiting abundantly.
Known as Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata, this mushroom was first discovered in 2003, and grows naturally on wood chips and mulch across the United States.
As the scourge of the COVID-19 virus causes pain and suffering to many across the world, it’s important to remember that nature also provides alternative methods for healing.
Some methods are literally growing in our backyards.
Stay safe! Please do not consume wild mushrooms unless you are a trained mycologist. Many mushrooms look very similar and every year there are numerous hospital visits due to incorrect mushroom identification.
